Explore STEM fields of study.
Use a foundation in biology, chemistry, physics, and math to understand earth systems and processes. Learn how earth sciences are applied and how they relate to modern society. Students pursuing this degree can earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science.
A bachelor's degree in geology gives students a solid, interdisciplinary background in the sciences. Students use a foundation in biology, chemistry, physics, and math to understand earth systems and earth processes. GEOL-G 110 Physical Geology and GEOL-G 221 Introductory Mineralogy are the typical gateway courses.
Employment of geoscientists is projected to grow 5% from 2022 to 2032, faster than the average for all occupations. About 2,200 openings for geoscientists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as retirement ( Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2023).
According to the IUPUI (now called IU Indianapolis) First Destination Survey in 2023, the average starting salary reported for School of Science graduates was $52,368, and the median salary was $50,000.

Make an impact on the health care industry without becoming a nurse or physician. Learn to manage electronic health records, analyze health information, ensure patient privacy, and educate medical teams on best practices and new developments to assist them with patient care. Program graduates will be able to sit for a national Registered Health Information Administrator credentialing exam.
In the age of technology, health information management (HIM) professionals are an essential part of the health care world. As an HIM professional, you will be performing tasks like managing electronic health records, analyzing health information, and ensuring patient privacy. You may also work with medical teams to educate them on best practices and new developments so they can provide the best and most efficient patient care possible.

Informatics thinks big picture, building strong technical skills as well as understanding how we use technology to communicate, work, heal, play, and solve problems that are facing society and industry. It is a way to make a difference in the lives of others, so the focus of the program is on the social impact of computing—how people and technology connect.
Employment of web developers and digital designers is projected to grow 16% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 19,000 openings for web developers and digital designers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as retirement (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2023).

Students in this program can choose between four concentrations: actuarial science, applied mathematics, applied statistics, and pure mathematics.
Math is an essential component of almost every branch of science, engineering, technology, and industry. When you have a math degree, you can find work almost anywhere, in any type of organization you can think of, from business to government.
You’ll also earn critical thinking, problem-solving, and investigative skills that will serve you well, no matter which direction your career takes you.

Students who complete this program have all of the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career as a middle school or high school mathematics teacher.
After passing the professional exams offered by the state, they will be fully certified to teach. Mathematics teachers are in great demand nationwide. Students earning their teaching certification in mathematics can easily find jobs almost anywhere in the country, and experienced mathematics teachers make more than many people think. The national average salary for math teachers is about $54,330–$55,990.
Employment of high school teachers is projected to show little or no change from 2022 to 2032. Despite limited employment growth, a bout 67,100 openings for high school teachers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as retirement ( Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2023).
