Sit down with an advisor in-person or virtually for 30 minutes to discuss your long-term plans, decide on classes for an upcoming semester, or resolve any academic holds. Use Student Appointment Scheduler or contact our office to schedule an in-person or online appointment.
As a new University College student, you’ll meet one-on-one with an advisor during your first semester before registering for future classes. Sometimes, you may be required to meet with an advisor for other reasons besides being a new student. We’ll notify you via your campus email about any advising requirements.
Regardless of advising requirements, meeting with an advisor is helpful for all University College students. Meet early and often to receive the best support for your success!
Your student success advisor will build a relationship with you so they can support you holistically as you plan for college and beyond. Consider these common reasons students meet with an advisor:
We offer three types of advising services to help you accomplish your goals. All services are offered in-person and virtually.
Service | Availability | Can holds be cleared? | Advisor | How to attend |
---|---|---|---|---|
Advising appointment | During our office hours; varying times on nights and weekends | Yes | Student success advisor | Make an appointment through Student Appointment Scheduler |
Drop-in advising | 11 a.m.–2 p.m., Tuesday–Thursday, January 20–May 1, 2025 | No | Peer advisor | Come to our office or access virtual drop-ins |
Open advising | Week prior to classes, the first week of classes, and key withdrawal dates. View our calendar for open advising dates and times | Yes | Student success advisor | Come to our office or access virtual advising |
If you can no longer make an appointment you scheduled, make sure to cancel or reschedule using Student Appointment Scheduler or by contacting our office.
You’ll be considered a no-show if you do not check in for your appointment at the front desk or virtually, or if you arrive more than 10 minutes late. There are consequences for no-shows:
