The Major and Career Exploration (MCE) team supports students who are exploring undergraduate majors and career pathways as well as students who are pursuing a general studies degree. With our specialized team of career consultants and student success advisors, we work to help you connect potential majors to careers through discovering your values, interests, personality, and skills.
You’ll gain confidence and career clarity through individualized experiences. We have a wealth of exploration opportunities to help you dream and discover your future path, including field trips, courses, online resources, individual meetings, and more for you to explore. We’ll even help you discover hands-on learning experiences, such as research, study abroad, service learning, and internships, to help you narrow down the fields you want to pursue.
Dream. Explore. Discover.
Not sure what you want to study? Or, do you have so many interests that you find it difficult to commit to one path? You’re not alone! Many students begin college unsure about their path—and even more end up changing majors after they have arrived.
When you start as an Exploratory student, you’ll be able to stay on track for graduation while keeping your options open during your first couple semesters. Through helpful guidance from the Office of Academic and Career Development, most students feel ready to declare their major by the middle of their sophomore year, if not earlier.
My advisor was super helpful in helping me figure out a plan that reflects my interests and ideas. This college is dedicated to helping students decide on a major, and they are so nice and helpful about the many ways to do so.
