The focus of the media arts and science program is on creativity and digital storytelling while enhancing contemporary career-building skills. Our program offers education and experience on various integrated media venues in today’s convergent society. We strive to produce dynamic websites, smartphone apps, interactive education, serious and entertaining games and simulations, 3-D motion graphics, digital illustrations and animations, audio, and video.

Use radiation protection principles as you determine exposure factors and position patients for various examinations with computerized equipment, such as IR, CT, and MRI scans. Students in this program must be a licensed radiographer, nuclear medicine technologist, radiation therapist, or hold an A.S. in Radiography.

Patients are served by medical imaging technologists in interventional procedures (IR), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These skilled imaging professionals use principles of radiation protection as they determine exposure factors and position patients for a variety of examinations with the use of computerized equipment. To be admitted to the Medical Imaging Technology Program, a student must be a licensed radiographer, nuclear medicine technologist, radiation therapist, or hold an A.S. in Radiography. **Many students earn their A.S. in Radiography at IU Indianapolis first and then continue on to the B.S. in Medical Imaging Technology program afterward. **

The Health and Life Sciences (HLS) cluster prepares students to pursue majors and careers in the diverse and exciting world of health care. HLS majors can explore careers in patient care, laboratory work, health care administration, and health education.
This program is the largest university-based clinical laboratory science program in Indiana. It prepares students to accurately perform clinical laboratory procedures on biologic samples from patients, work that helps physicians diagnose and treat diseases.

The medical laboratory science (formerly clinical laboratory science) program provides a science-oriented curriculum that prepares students to accurately perform clinical laboratory procedures on biologic samples from patients. Clinical lab technicians analyze simple and complex chemical components in body fluids, evaluate cellular components of blood, identify microorganisms and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns, and test compatibility when preparing blood products for administration to patients. Their work helps physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases.

Music technology students engage in making music with technology, performing, composing, and producing digital music formatted materials. Students study musicianship during the first two years of the degree program, which combines music theory, history, keyboard, aural training, and music technology. Students participate in music ensembles and applied music lessons each semester that they are enrolled (8 credit hours total). The degree is designed as a four-year course of study.

Students engage in traditional academic music studies (e.g., music theory, aural skills, music history), piano, voice, guitar, percussion, improvisation, music technology, psychology, and music therapy specific courses.

Nuclear medicine technologists are a part of the health care team as they provide care in diagnosing patients, performing organ imaging, and offering therapeutic services through ionizing radiation emanated from radioactive materials. These technologists are capable of performing quality control procedures on the instrumentation and radioactive materials. They also assist physicians in clinical procedures such as doing intravenous injections, drawing blood, assessing the technical quality of the studies, and providing basic patient care.
Employment of nuclear medicine technologists is projected to show little or no change from 2022 to 2032.
